Canada Preparing To Renegotiate NAFTA

The Canadian Government doesn’t seem overly concerned about renegotiating the North American Free Trade Agreement.

U.S. president Donald Trump outlined his concerns with NAFTA yesterday.

Federal finance minister Bill Morneau believes they can still come up with an agreement that is fair and beneficial for all three countries.

“Our communication lines are open and we know that we’re going to have a negotiation. Negotiations always have points of challenge. But we do think there is, as vice-president Pence said, an opportunity for a win, win, win as we move forward on NAFTA negotiations.”

Morneau says re-opening NAFTA allows them to address issues like the digital economy, which didn’t exist when the original document was drafted.
