More than 50-elementary students from Dryden, Keewatin, Red Lake, Rainy River, Vermilion Bay and Ignace participated in the Cardboard Boat Race in Dryden Thursday.
The students constructed a “seaworthy” boat using cardboard, duct tape, adhesive and good ole brain power.
Teams were judged on weight and speed.
Skills Canada Spokesperson Carolyn Hartlen says it was an opportunity to get elementary students involved in hand’s on activities.
Hartlen says its their hope that students consider a program in High School that focuses on skills trades and technology.
