Carillion says it will continue to clear highways in the Thunder Bay district while the company shuts its doors.
The company announced on its website that it’s in liquidation.
Carillion has the plowing contract for some major arteries in the Lakehead area, including Highway 17.
The company says it’s struggling under the weight of more than $2.6-billion Canadian debt.
Carillion said it had no choice but to go into compulsory liquidation after weekend talks with creditors failed to get the short-term financing it needed to continue operating.
