The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board is welcoming $945,000 to upgrade rural schools.
The Provincial funds are meant to be used to hire principals and secretaries however the Public Board has already met that criteria.
Chief Financial Officer Dean Carrie says they have some flexibility on how to spend the money.
Carrie says they will examine specific staffing issues before deciding their next course of action.
17 schools in the region qualify under the Government’s criteria.
The funding is part of a $31 million commitment from the Province to help smaller schools.
