The Northwest Catholic District School Board is in the very early stages of looking at the possibility of establishing high schools in Dryden and Fort Frances.
Director of Education Rick Boisvert says the idea was raised last March and staff were requested to come forward with a preliminary report.
The Board has received that report and Boisvert now says they have decided to take a closer look at the idea.
Boisvert says they will be examining the conditions and economics in both communities.
He adds they will be consulting with both Dryden and Fort Frances as well as the Ministry of Education in the coming months.
Staff are expected to deliver a feasibility report to the Board by May 2016.
Boisvert says there are a number of factors that need to be considered in further detail and that includes finding out the extent of community support and what funding would be available.
