Centennial Celebrations a Huge Success

The Dryden Centennial Committee is about to launch its ‘Pay it Forward’ campaign.
With the blessing of City Council, the Committee plans to spend the $28,000 it brought in through 2010 events on a number of activities.
Plans for 2011 with the money include;
($5,000 for Rockn’ the River on August Long Weekend, $5,000 for Children’s Street Fair in mid-August, $5,000 for Arena Dance on August Long Weekend, $5,000 for Oktoberfest.)
The Committee also hopes to spend $4,000 on improving signage at the City entrance way’s, $1,000 on a Confederation College Bursary and a $500 donation to the Vermilion Bay Cadets.
Centennial celebrations were a huge success according to Chair Mary Heile.
Over $500,000 was spent on 2010 events and $296,000 came in from donations, merchandise and ticket sales.
Heile says over 25,000 people took part in Centennial events.
