CEP Taking Aim At Kenora MP Greg Rickford

The Communications, Energy and Paperworks Union is upset with Kenora MP Greg Rickford for supporting Bill C-377.
Local representative Stephen Boon says the bill singles out unions as some of the only organizations in Canada that would be required to publicly disclose all details of every single purchase made over $5,000.
The union says the bill will actually worsen labour relations and slow economic development.
Boon says he’s surprised Rickford supported the legislation given that most stakeholders and even his own law society rallied against it.
The Senate has voted 49-33 to support changes to the bill and it has now been forced back to the House of Commons this Fall.
Boon is hoping Rickford will stand-up for the local union movement at that time.
