The Northwestern Health Unit has launched a campaign to raise awareness about screening for cervical cancer.
Public Health Nurse Myrna Kraynyk-Cooper is part of an advisory committee in the Kenora and Rainy River Districts.
She says all sexually active women, regardless of age, should have a PAP test as a means to detect cancer in its early stages.
Kraynyk-Cooper says women should undergo a PAP test at least once a year for three consecutive years.
After that, one test every two years is recommended.
