The Dryden Chamber of Commerce says it’s pleased the City has started the conversation about improving relations.
Relations between the two have been frosty to say the least.
City Manager Joe van Koeverden addressed Chamber members last night.
Chamber Chair Stefanie Armstrong admits there’s a lot of frustration right now.
Armstrong says business reps aren’t insensitive to the issues facing the community but know that we have to find solutions so people can continue to operate businesses in the community.
She says businesses are seeing their costs increase and a lack of direction from the municipality.
Van Koeverden admits there’s been a lack of communication between the two.
He is hoping to improve the relationship and is urging Chamber reps to speak their mind and attend council and public meetings.
He stresses business reps need to be more vocal and express what needs to be done to improve the current situation.
Both sides agree they can no longer point fingers on the lack of communication and stress it’s time to move forward as one.
