The Ontario Chamber of Commerce is calling on both levels of government to do more to encourage mining development.
A new report is out with several recommendations and Chamber President Allan O’Dette says there’s a major focus on expanded infrastructure in northern Ontario.
He’s also asking the province to increase its investment in mining research and innovation and use mineral expertise to create new business.
O’Dette says we need to be prepared for the future and must take action to help protect direct and in-direct mining jobs.
The report urges both the Feds and Ontario to work together on mining interests.
O’Dette is asking for the creation of a revenue-sharing framework between the government and First Nations as well as increase tax credits to encourage investment.
