It looks like changes are finally coming to Ontario’s
liquor laws and just in time for patio weather.
Attorney General Chris Bentley says adults will soon be able to
leave the beer tent and wander around at festivals with a drink in
hand.
And they may even be allowed to shop at retail stalls.
Liquor hours for weddings and charity events may also be extended
until 2 a-m.
Some are pushing for changes to rules governing patios that are
separated from a licensed establishment — by a sidewalk.
Bentley says it’s not clear now whether servers or customers are
allowed to move alcohol from one area to the other.
He hasn’t set a date for the changes but says the should take
effect in time for the summer.
