New fishing regulations are going into effect on the Wabigoon chain of lakes in the new year.
A new ‘slot size’ will be introduced and anglers will have to release any Walleye or Sauger between 46 and 58 cm (18.1 – 22.8 inches) and will only be able to keep a single fish that is larger than the ‘slot size.’ Sport Licenses are restricted to a total of 4 fish and Conservation Licenses to a total of 2 fish.
The limit on Pike is also 4 fish on a Sport License and 2 on a Conservation License but any Northern Pike that is larger than 75 cm (29.5 inches) will have to be released.
The Wabigoon chain includes Wabigoon, Dinorwic, Butler, Mile, Trap, Olsen, Paulson, Larson, Minehaha and Rock lakes and connecting waterways.
The new regulations take effect January 1.
