More anglers have been heading to the Minnesota side of Rainy River and Lake of the Woods in recent years.
That has led the Department of Natural Resources to look at reducing the walleye harvest to allow for future sustainability.
DNR Spokesperson Mike Larson says the current proposal calls for a reduction of 24% a year.
Regulations for fishing walleye in Ontario and Manitoba are already more restrictive in border waters.
The public has until October 15th to make comments to the DNR.
