Hampton Not Satisfied with Mad Cow Funding

Kenora-Rainy River MPP Howard Hampton says those in the beef industry are tired of borrowing money to survive during the Mad Cow dispute with the United States.
The Province has introduced a $30 million bail-out package but Hampton says many people have already burned up their bank account and taken out a second mortgage on their homes to stay alive.
Hampton says beef farmers are 5 to 6 months away from bankruptcy and $30 million is going to do nothing.
The NDP Leader says the Federal and Provincial Government’s need to work out a long-range plan that will help cattle farmers.
The U.S. Border isn’t expected to reopen to Canadian cattle anytime soon.
