Tourist Operators in the Region may be surprised to learn that they could become travel agents without knowing.
The Northern Ontario Tourist Outfitters Association says changes are being made to the Travel Industry Act and some camp owners could be hit hard as a result.
Executive Director Doug Reynolds says under proposed changes, operators who arrange packages would be considered travel agents and be forced to register and pay into a compensation package for travelers.
Reynolds says concerned businesses have until the end of the month to submit feedback to the Province.
