Charges Laid Against Former Union Secretary

A former Financial Secretary of the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union Local 255 is now facing several charges after he’s alleged to have misappropriated in excess of $175,000 over a seven year period. Wayne Asselin of Nipigon is charged with Theft Over $5000, Fraud Over $5000, and Criminal Breach of Trust. The investigation into his activities began in 2008 after a union member voice concerns about depleted accounts to police. Asselin will appear in Nipigon Provincial Court on April 19th
