Efforts are underway by the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples to improve the lives of indigenous people who don’t live on reserves.
Chief Dwight Dorey was in Thunder Bay Tuesday to hear area concerns as part of his ‘Grassroots Engagement Tour’.
Dorey says health care, employment and training are issues that need to be addressed.
He adds another major issue for off-reserve aboriginals is housing and homelessness.
Meantime, there has been a rebranding of the Congress as the group will now be called the Indigenous Peoples’ Assembly of Canada.
