Chief John A Riley says it was a shock to learn the renovated City
Police building would be named after him, but notes it was a shock he didn’t
mind having.
The 32-year veteran of the force was recognized in front of his former
colleagues, City officials and current officers at a special ceremony
Friday afternoon.
Riley says he carries a number of memories and notes a lot has changed since he started in 1955.
Riley witnessed the growth of Dryden Police from a force of 5 to 21
when he retired in 1987.
In 1977, Riley was a driving force behind the construction of a new
Police and Fire building at the 64 King Street site.
