The Harper government is being accused of a cynical public relations ploy.
And it has the hunger-striking chief of Attawapiskat now making new demands.
Chief Theresa Spence, who has been fasting since December 11th, says she now wants elements of the latest omnibus budget bill repealed as soon as the Commons resumes at the end of the month.
All she wanted before was a meeting between the prime minister, Governor General and First Nations leaders.
The new demand comes as Ottawa releases a scathing audit of tens of millions of dollars in spending on her troubled northern Ontario community.
The audit catalogues millions of dollars in spending, much of it poorly documented, undocumented, or questionable.
The government-appointed auditors also found that poor housing conditions were not flagged by federal authorities, despite
inspections by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.
