Child Passenger Safety Week

A child seat safety expert says a common mistake parents make is not properly checking to ensure the seat is the right size.
Child Passenger Safety Week is wrapping up.
Jacquelyn Quirk says it’s critical to ensure you have the right seat for your child’s height, weight and developmental stage.
She says it’s also a good idea to go through your car seat manual or watch a “how-to” video” for installation tips.
Statistics show that up to 81% of car seats and up to 50% of booster seats are not properly secure.
Quirk says sometimes it can be as simple as the straps on the seat being too loose, or the straps are done up incorrectly.
By properly buckling children into their seats, you can reduce the risk of injury and death by 70%.
