Northwestern Ontario was mild over Christmas but not warm enough to set records. According to CKDR Meteorologist Bill Laidlaw, Christmas day was warm – but nowhere near the markers set in 1999, 1994 in Fort Frances. Boxing day was warmer – pushing the markers set in 1956 in Red lake and Kenora, 1994 in Dryden and Sioux lookout , and setting new records in Fort frances and Thunder Bay. Fort Frances reached 5.4 – the old mark was 5.0 set in 1994. Thunder Bay reached 6.0 – the old mark was 5.5 set in 1994. The long range forcast looks like we will be above normal into the first week of January.
