City Being Asked To Take Over Handi-Transit

The Dryden Handi-Transit is asking the City to take over full control of the service.
Board member Joe Delaney says the City has always played a major role in operations but the time is now to make the service more efficient.
Delaney says their lone driver would become a City employee and spare drivers could be found within existing public works ranks.
He notes the Board has had difficulty continuing the work that was provided by the late Don Austin.
Delaney adds a new vehicle is also needed.
He says the Handi-Transit van is outdated and has become costly to repair.
A new vehicle would be covered under gas tax funding.
Delaney stresses the service will continue but notes it needs to be restructured.
