Kenora City Council has selected the Ontario Provincial
Police as the lone law force to service the municipality.
KPS Chief Dan Jorgenson says he’s not throwing in the
towel yet, noting the OPP bid still needs to go before the
Ontario Police Commission.

It all came down to one vote, with three councillors
voting in favour of the OPP and three voting for the
Kenora Police Service. Mayor Len Compton was the tie
breaker.
Meanwhile, OPP Staff Seargent Don Denver is reassuring
residents they won’t lose control over the police force.

The City or the Ontario Provincial Police will be filing
a police force disbandment hearing in the near future.
