The final vote on who will police the City of Kenora
came down to a 3-3 split.
Councillors Dave McCann, Wendy Cuthbert, and Rory
McMillan voted in favour of the OPP bid, while Councillors
Charito Drinkwalter, Andrew Poirier and Chris Van
Wallenghem threw their votes to the Kenora Police.
Mayor Len Compton broke the tie voting in favour of the
provincial force.
The final vote was greeted with jeers from the public,
with one women yelling “Thanks for losing our jobs, Len.”
