OPP Selected as lone force #2

Kenora City Council has endorsed the Ontario Provincial

Police bid to service the municipality.

The final vote came down to a 3-3 split, with Mayor Len

Compton casting the tie breaker.

The OPP bid was almost 2 million dollars less than the

Kenora Police Services.

Costing Committee Chair Dave McCann says the OPP bid was

guaranteed for six months starting November 30th.

McCann, Mayor Len Compton and Councillors Rory McMillan,

and Wendy Cuthbert voted in favour of the OPP.

Councillors Charito Drinkwalter, Chris Van Wallenghem

and Andrew Poirier voted for the KPS.
