A majority of Dryden Council has voted in favour of withholding a chunk of money that is owed to the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation.
Mayor Craig Nuttall says roughly $79,000 will be put in a trust until MPAC can come up with a fair deal with the assessment of the Domtar Mill.
Nuttall says MPAC has to get their act together before the City hands over the money.
Nuttall notes Elk Lake and Espanola are doing the same thing and Fort Frances has asked for a copy of the resolution.
He adds MPAC should take into account economic conditions in a community when making a ruling.
Nuttall stresses if they don’t get this straightened around soon it’s going to be disasterous for the city.
The only councilor who was opposed to the motion was Shayne MacKinnon.
