City Of Dryden Provides Update On Fire Service Operations

The City of Dryden is providing an update on what is going on with the Dryden Fire Service.

The City says they have hired 5 contracted fire fighters as an interim measure since some of the Dryden Fire Service Hall 1 members withdrew their fire fighting services on February 23rd.

The release states these fire fighters have the necessary qualifications to be professional fire fighters in Ontario and have completed the Pre-Fire Fighter Education and Training Program at Confederation College in Thunder Bay.

The City adds in addition to the five contracted fire fighters they have maintained support from Dryden Fire Hall 2, several Fire Hall 1 volunteers and Dryden Fire Services staff.

They also say the Fire Marshal has been made aware of the situation and is monitoring the public safety aspects of the City’s fire protection plan.

The Fire Chief has confirmed the City is fully achieving relevant standards for effective and efficient fire service operations.

The City claims that citizens and properties are protected.

Additionally the City says they will begin recruitment to the Dryden Fire Service this week and information regarding volunteer fire fighter opportunities will be posted to the City of Dryden’s website HERE

In April, Council will be discussing and reviewing their options regarding the long-term future of the Dryden Fire Services operations.
