CIty Says Fire Protection in Place – Talks With Fire Fighters Continue

The City of Dryden says fire protection is in place while it attempts to solve a dispute with members of the Dryden Volunteer Firefightes Association.

Late Thursday evening, the Executive of the Firefighters Association notified area media that they were suspending all services, citing the ‘termination’ of three of their members. The Association is blaming the Mayor, City CAO, Council and says it has lost all confidence in Chief Ryan Murrell.

Later in the morning, volunteer fire fighters operating from the Barclay Hall advised they would respond to fires within Dryden.

During the lunch hour, the City issued a press release sayiing arrangements are in place with other surrounding fire departments in Wabigoon and Oxdrift to provide assistance.

Saying that talks are continuing, the City says it is hopeful the situation can be resolved but notes that it cannot address specific Human Resources matters.
