TransCanada Highway Open to Single Lane West of Vermilion Bay

Highway 17 is now open to single-lane traffic west of Vermilion Bay after a deadly collision earlier today.

OPP confirm the driver of a pick up truck is dead after colliding with a tractor-trailer unit at about 8:30 this morning.

Police closed the highway just before 10 and opened it to single-lane traffic at 3:15 this afternoon.

The driver and passenger in the transport sustained minor injuries.

The investigation into the collision is continuing at the scene and Police ask motorists to drive cautiously while backed up traffic clears.

The collision occured about 5km east of Willard Lake Lodge, which is west of Vermilion Bay.

The identity of the male driver is being witheld pending notification of next of kin.
