Clayton Bailey

Clayton was born in Dryden on February 20, 1917 to Marshal and Eliza Bailey. Spending his youth in Dryden and became involved with his father’s theatre business. During World War II he served his country in the Royal Canadian Air Force. After the war, he became a projectionist at the Strand Theatre in Dryden and took over the business upon the death of his father. During his retirement years, he worked as an aircraft mechanic in both Dryden and Prince George, BC. Upon moving back to the Dryden area, he continued his interest in flying, owning several airplanes, and being involved in the founding of the Dryden Flying Club. Other activities which he enjoyed in his leisure time were fishing, boating, and classic cars. All of these were a long life passion of Clayton’s. He is survived by son Barry (Marg) of Prince George BC., and daughter Judy Bailey of Dryden, sisters Murial Ross, Bernice Collen, and Gwendolyn Perkins. Also surviving him are his grandchildren Brad, Jeff, Kelly, Deb, and Andrea of BC., Todd of Winnipeg MB., and Haley of Dryden. Clayton will also be sadly missed by his special friend Dorothy Sherwood, and numerous great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, and his wife Ivah Jean (Pat), his sisters Vera Mackenzie, and Norma Henrietta Bailey. He passed away in Dryden on February 26. 2003. A Memorial service to celebrate his life will be held March 10, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral Home with Mr. John Mulders officiating.
