Forest Ethics wants the McGuinty Government to put a stop to large
clear cuts in the Trout Lake Forest, a key place for caribou to range.
The Environmental group recently purchased satelitte images that show
5-clear cuts larger than 260-hectares within the Boreal Forest in
Northwestern Ontario.
Spokesperson Leah Henderson says the Government needs to take a closer
look at its forest management plan.
Henderson says the satelitte images contradict the Minister of Natural
Resources claim that large clear cuts are no longer taking place in Ontario.
Forest Ethics says the latest large-scale clear cut was this past
spring.
