Value-Added Product Could Create Jobs

The Province says its strengthening the forest sector in the Northwest
by opening up the white birch wood supply for local job creation.
Up to 400,000 cubic metres of unutilized wood will be made
available on a yearly basis in the Thunder Bay-Atikokan District.
Atikokan Mayor Dennis Brown says its a chance to boost the local
economy by using the wood to create new jobs.
Brown says the Government is now accepting proposals.
Successful applicants will be determined based on a number of criteria,
including economic viability, ecological sustainability and partnerships
with local communities and First Nations.
