The Minister of Northern Development says he’s willing to contemplate the future of winter roads with area First Nations.
It comes as only a few winter roads are up and running for light vehicles, but not heavy fuel trucks.
Michael Gravelle says he understands why the Nishnawbe Aski Nation would like to see permanent roads over ice roads, as the reality of climate change is that the season is considerably shorter.
He says right now there is one all-weather road that is very near completion in the area of North Caribou Lake. (File photo)
