Close Attention Being Put On Two Forest Fires

It could be a busy week for Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry firefighters with very hot, dry conditions in the forecast.

About a half a dozen forest fires were reported over the weekend, including a couple of very large lightning-caused blazes.

The largest blaze currently burning is just southeast of North Spirit Lake First Nation.

It’s about 280-hectares in size and officials say a couple of water bombers have been assigned to the fire.

The other fire of concern is burning south of Sachigo Lake at about 100-hectares.

So far, that fire is just under observation.
