The Dryden Youth Centre is expected to continue operating this year thanks to outside grants and donations but it’s long-term future is murky!
City funding dries up at the end of June but Rotary has committed $15,000 and another $4,000 grant application has been submitted by the Dryden Native Friendship Centre.
Community and Development Services Manager Bob Cunningham says they can keep the Centre open this year off of grant money.
Cunningham notes the Youth Centre has used $19,000 of the total $30,000 allocated for operations this year.
He notes any left over funds will go towards paying down the City deficit.
City funding for the facility is unlikely in 2014 as officials embark on an extensive operations review.
During the six month period from July 1st, to December 31st, 2012, Youth Centre operating expenditures were $26,018.
