Cochrane Coach Says “We Were Cheated” As Ice Dogs Improve To 2-0

The Dryden GM Ice Dogs are guaranteed a playoff spot in the Dudley Hewitt Cup playoffs.

The Ice Dogs improved to 2-0 with a hard fought 3-0 win over the Cochrane Crunch in a feisty affair at the Memorial Arena Wednesday night.

Forward Kris Hamlin says it was gutsy win for his team, given the fact that they got off to a slow start.

Hamlin says late in the third period they got some key blocked shots from Jacen Bracko and Burke Johnstone.

Connor Mowatt scored two goals in the second, including one that Cochrane maintains was goaltender interference.

Woody Galbraith iced things with an empty net goal.

Landon Pavlisin made 28-saves for the shutout.

The Ice Dogs wrap up the round-robin tonight against Thunder Bay at 7:30.

Cochrane Crunch Head Coach Ryan Leonard had a different take on the game.

In a post-game press-conference, Leonard wasn’t shy in expressing his feelings in a mini tirade.

Leonard reacted to one goal with no goalie interference, their goalie (Cochrane) was ran three times, and one guy was high-sticked with blood pouring out.

Dryden GM was assessed a four minute penalty for the high-stick.

He says “we were cheated in tonight’s Dudley Hewitt Cup game, big time.”

He ended by saying “we were really ripped off today, in an event like this.”
