There is no end in sight to the bitter cold conditions in northwestern Ontario.
Bill Laidlaw of Signal Weather Services says we may get a one day break on the weekend, where the temperature will try to get above minus 18.
He says the current conditions are common for our neck of the woods and says back in 1966 we had 26 days straight of a cold snap similar to this.
Laidlaw isn’t predicting mild weather until the middle of February.
Currently there is an extreme cold warning throughout the region with temperatures ranging from -33 to -38 degrees and windchills up to -42 degrees.
Residents are being advised to bundle up if they plan to go outside and exposed skin can become victim to frostbite.
Also if it is too cold for you to stay outside, it is too cold for your pets as well.
