College faculty are back to work.
This after back to work legislation passed Sunday with Liberal and PC MPP’s backing the bill, with the NDP left alone to block it.
Advanced Education Minister Deb Matthews says it was really a last resort.
Matthews says they did everything they could to avoid the legislation, without interfering with the collective bargaining process.
Four northern Ontario MPP’s did not participate in the final vote, including Kenora-Rainy River’s Sarah Campbell.
Ontario NDP Labour critic Cindy Forster says forcing college faculty back to work undermines the negotiating process.
Forster voted against back-to-work legislation, stressing teachers need to be treated with respect.
