The local SPCA Branch has fielded several complaints about motorists leaving their pets in vehicles this Summer.
Spokesperson Deanna Ross says it has become a common occurrence and she notes too many pets die each year.
Ross stresses a hot car is no place for the family pet and they rely on the public to report animals that are suffering from heat exhaustion.
Violators could face a fine and the animal may be seized.
