Computer Glitch Gives Welfare Recipients Brief Taste Of More Money

The Ontario government is defending its new computer system for handling welfare cases.
The new system developed a problem when it sent out 20-million dollars in overpayments in error.
In the legislature Premier Kathleen Wynne admitted there was a glitch.
Wynne says less than 1% of the cheque’s still need to be dealt with but for the most part the problem has been fixed.
She says the problem was detected right away.
Critics are wondering why the government rolled out the new system before making sure it worked properly.
