Concern in Atikokan

Nearly 200-concerned Atikokan residents vented there frustration
Tuesday night over the Province’s plan to close the coal fired plant.
A public meeting to discuss the Town’s options was held and Mayor Dennis
Brown says those in attendance again questioned the Province’s logic considering the Government continues to import high cost electricity from the States.
Wayne Mclelland from Peat Resources was in attendance and talked
about the possibility of using peat at the plant instead of coal.
Brown says those in attendance also spoke about cottage lot development as a way to boost the economy.
