The Provincial Government plans to take back all welfare and court security costs that have been downloaded to Municipalities, but one Dryden Councilor calls the time line unacceptable.
Brian Collins says the uploading takes effect in 2010 and 2012 and won’t be complete until 2018.
Collins predicts 3-Municipal and 3-Provincial elections during that period which means nothing is guaranteed.
He says Ontario Municipalities are still on the hook for the services until the uploading is complete, which costs taxpayers about $1.5-billion a year.
Treasurer Linda McNaughton says Dryden is in line to save $676,000 once the uploading is complete.
