Concern Over Plans To Increase Stumpage Fees

The provincial government is being asked to back down on plans to increase the stumpage fees paid by forest companies to cut white birth and poplar.
Forestry companies say the increase amounts to 820%.
Ontario Forest Industry Association’s Christine Leduc says this will put Ontario companies at competitive disadvantage.
Stumpage fees are now at 59 cents a cubic metre.
