Concerns With Potential Of Chimney Fires

The Dryden Fire Service is out with a seasonal reminder.
Information Officer Reagan Breeze says the colder weather has prompted area residents to start firing up their heating appliances.
Breeze is asking homeowners to ensure their chimney is inspected and cleaned and he reminds folks to avoid burning garbage.
Breeze says creosote buildup often causes major and potentially deadly fires in the Dryden area during this time of year.
The Ontario Fire Code requires homeowners to maintain the safety of their chimney and inspect them at least once a year.
