A possible major step forward to address a severe shortage of housing for seniors in Dryden.
The City has reached a conditional property deal with Bridge Road Developments, with a plan to build an active living apartment complex at 310 Van Horne Avenue.
Economic Development Manager Tyler Peacock says the company has built active Living Apartments in 25 communities across Manitoba and Saskatchewan, along with one apartment development in Kenora.
He says they have a long-standing history of many successful projects of similar nature.
Peacock says this is a positive first step in bringing more diverse housing to Dryden and the region.
He stresses it was the Seniors Co-op that really made the effort in the first place to get this opportunity here, stating they have been working on this project for some time.
