Confederation College Looking Outside The Box To Boost Numbers

The President of Confederation College says with a decline in students in Northwestern Ontario they need to start looking elsewhere for potential enrollees.

It comes after the college laid off employees in order to balance their budget.

Jim Madder says they’re hitting the ground running looking for new revenue markets and notes they will be targeting districts such as the Greater Toronto Area.

Out of the 7,000 students enrolled at the school, around 490 are from Southern Ontario.

They also have roughly 420 International students.

Madder also provided an update on construction of a student village in the release of his 2015 report.

He says two buildings are already up and construction is expected to be completed this Fall.

He notes the village will accommodate 120-students and they are hoping to establish a Wellness Centre in the Fall of 2017.
