Confederation College is eliminating three programs for the 2018-2019 intake. The Power Engineering Technician, Civil Engineering Technology and Child and Youth Care programs are all being suspended.
Declining and consistently low enrolment over the years as well as low retention rates are cited for the demise of two programs.
Insufficient work placement opportunities for students and a significant change in regional employment opportunities are to blame for the Power Engineering course.
President Jim Madder says student currently enrolled in the first or second year of these programs will be supported to complete their studies.
Madder says no layoffs are anticipated.
