Dryden Police Release Final 2017 Stats

2017 was a busy year for the Dryden Police Service.

The final year end stats have been released to the Board of Directors and last year police received 8,121 calls for service.

That’s up from 7,578 in 2016.

Parking infractions went up significantly, most in part because the Service hired a By-law enforcement officer.

A total of 288-tickets were handed out in 2017, a jump from 128 a year prior.

Police didn’t have to deal with as many false alarms, as increased fines helped dropped the number of officer responses to an alarm by 187.

The report shows domestic assault, threats and harassment incidents went up by 32 to 74.

There were also more residential break and enters.

Police Chief Doug Palson says there is nothing in the final numbers that are alarming, suggesting in general it was a regular year.

The Board of Directors have requested an increase in foot patrol hours this year, as the time on the street for officers went down by 97 hours.
