Conservative Cabinet Minister Focusing On Skilled Trades

The Minister of Employment and Social Development says Canada needs a million skilled jobs across the country over the next seven years.

Speaking in Dryden, Pierre Poilievre stressed the Conservative government will continue to focus on young people and getting them the training needed in skilled trades in order to work at home.

He says they are helping fill the void through the Canada Apprenticeship Grant, the Canada Student Grant as well as the Canada Job Grant.

Poilievre says the Jobs Grant provides funding to help employers pay for training with the goal of having them work there after.

He says the Liberals brought the country back years when they were in power as they just focused on white-collared jobs.

Poilievre says “colleges deserve the same respect as universities, trades deserve the same respect as professions, blue-collar’s deserve the same respect as white-collar’s and know how deserves the same respect as knowledge.”
