If the federal government has its way, all convicted sex offenders will be added to the national sex offender registry.
The Harper Government has introduced, tough, new, legislation in the House of Commons.
Kenora MP Greg Rickford says he hopes the opposition will support the bill.
Rickford says the bill will allow police to prevent crimes before they happen, instead of solving them after the fact.
He adds the legislation will also make it mandatory for certain sex offenders to provide their DNA to a national data base.
Rickford also notes the bill will also allow the government to add Canadians convicted of sex offenses overseas, to the registry.
